Kim Fowley est un auteur-compositeur-interprète, producteur et impresario américain né le 21 juillet 1939 à Manille (Philippines). Il est le fils de l'acteur Douglas Fowley.
Personnage excessif et incontournable du rock underground nord-américain depuis la fin des années 1950, découvreur de talents (Stooges, Modern Lovers), producteur-pygmalion de groupes à succès (The Runaways, certainement son plus beau coup), de rock gras (Kiss, Slade) ou d'une pléthore d'obscurs garage-bands, on ne compte plus les projets auxquels il a participé d'une manière ou d'une autre en plus de quarante ans de carrière. Surnommé parfois le « Dorian Gray du rock'n'roll », il a tenu la main aux Flamin' Groovies pour écrire Teenage Head et Sonic Youth a repris son Bubblegum.
Quelques titres cultes de Kim Fowley, interprétés par lui-même, entouré de musiciens teigneux et racés, sortis sur des singles confidentiels ou repris en LP : The Trip, Animal Man, Bubblegum, Mr. Responsibility, Teenage Death Girl, Werewolf Dynamite, Young America Saturday Night, 25 Hours a Day, Sex, Dope & Violence...
