Gil Kane alias Eli Katz (né le 6 avril 1926 à Riga en Lettonie) sa famille est d'origine juive qui immigre à Brooklyn en 1929 ; mort le 31 janvier 2000 en Floride aux États-Unis). C'est un dessinateur de comic dont la carrière s'est étalée des années 1940 aux années 1990 et qui a travaillé sous le nom de Gil Kane et à certaines occasions de Scott Edwards.

Il est co-créateur d'Atom & Iron Fist.
On lui doit le dessin des costumes de Green Lantern, le dessin du deuxième costume de Mar-vell (1969-70), l'illustration d'épisodes importants de Spiderman : dont un récit montrant les ravages de la drogue (Amazing Spiderman #96-98, 1971) et celui racontant la mort de Gwen Stacy (Amazing Spiderman #121-122, 1973). Il est l'auteur du premier roman graphique américain : Blackmark (119 pages, 1971). Il est mort des complications d'un cancer.
