KORE

Since the early 2000s, Djamel Fezari aka Kore has been turning tunes into gold. From the beginning of his busy career as a DJ/producer, this self-made artist of Algerian descent has been dishing out hits from rap to pop with incredible flair and versatility.

Among his numerous artistic feats, the former Kore & Skalp co-founder has mixed and produced tracks for a great number of French artists such as Booba, Rohff, Don Choa from the Fonky Family but also lighter pop melodies for his partner Leslie, as well as Magic System. A workaholic at heart, Kore also created the Raï'n’B Fever series with an initial album released with great commercial success in 2004, followed by a number of follow-up albums produced by Kore and his brother in 2006 and 2008, a special album in 2009 (Même pas fatigué) and another by Kore in 2011.

These past couple of years, after having been number one on the French charts Kore retreated from the public eye and moved to Miami to regroup and rethink his career orientation. Just recently returning to France and nearly 20 years after his debut in the music industry, this artisan of sound is opening up a new chapter via collaborations with up and coming artists such as Lacrim, Brodinski and Club cheval. Kore’s evolution and continued success proves once again the artist’s deep versatility and talent, in a way reminiscent of that of the late highly acclaimed hip hop producer DJ Mehdi. A self-taught artist like Stevie Wonder, of whom he remains a fervent admirer, Kore always considered his own lack of formal musical education as a handicap which is quite ironic for a producer who was awarded over 35 gold discs for his work as of today.

Both a kingmaker and man in the shadows, Kore is undoubtedly one of the most influential actors in the French hip hop landscape today as he continues to fine tune his discography and grow his own Paris studio with a couple more booths under construction in the next few months.
