Géry van Outryve d'Ydewalle (Bruges 18 décembre 1946) est un scientifique Belge. Il a été professeur de psychologie expérimentale dans le domaine de la mémoire et la cognition et directeur du Laboratoire de Psychologie Expérimentale à la Katholieke Universiteit Leuven jusqu'en 2012. Il a travaillé avec le Professeur William Kaye Estes à la Rockefeller University(N.Y.) et donné cours à la London School of Economics. En 1992 il obtint le Prix Francqui en Sciences Humaines et a été élu membre de la Koninklijke Vlaamse Academie voor Wetenschappen en Kunsten van België/KVAB. De 1980 à 2004 il a été successivement membre, Secrétaire-Général adjoint (1984), Secrétaire-Général (1992) et Président (1996) de l' Union Internationale de Psychologie Scientifique Il a été élu Secrétaire Perpétuel de la KVAB et y a succédé au Professeur Niceas Schamp au 1 septembre 2010. Géry van Outryve d'Ydewalle a également une formation de musicien (flûte baroque) et est membre fondateur du Ter Duinen Barokensemble, Collegium Instrumentale Brugense devenu Het Kamerorkest Brugge. Il est le cinquième des six enfants du Baron Pierre van Outryve 'Ydewalle, Gouverneur de la Flandre Occidentale de 1944 à 1979.

L'un de ses ancêtres Emmanuel-Louis van Outryve d'Ydewalle (van Outryve; 1745-1827) fut annobli par l' Impératrice Marie-Thérèse d'Autriche avec titre de chevalier le 21 September 1771;[1] , titre héréditaire en ligne masculine. Le père de Géry van Outryve d'Ydewalle, Pierre, fut élevé au titre de Baron in 1982.
