The official journal of the Indian Patent Office, Kolkata, on December 13 last year published the invention as a system and method for operating a computing device through a microchip instead of a hard disk which allows dependencies to run both Windows and Linux software.

“The microchip is installed with a hybrid operating system named ‘ReVo ix’ (also invented by Afreed) – something that provides dependencies to run both Linux and Windows software packages simultaneously. It features faster execution speeds, an inbuilt firewall, and stands as a complete independent operating system,” the young inventor told the media at Guwahati Press Club today.

The system can be used in places demanding high uninterrupted performances such as offices, banks, academic institutions, and industries besides domestic computing purposes. It can also be installed in servers by large set-ups.

Demonstrations of the operations of the invention were appreciated by AMTRON, Intellectual Property Office, Kolkata, North East Regional Institute of Management (NERIM)-Guwahati, National Informatics Centre(NIC)-Guwahati, and Assam Science Technology & Environment Council (ASTEC).

The prototype of the embedded hardware named ‘Revo Book’ was also launched for public view at the Press Club.

Afreed is the son of Majeda Begum and Nurul Islam of Hatigaon, Guwahati.
