Baths Moulay Yacoub


Moulay Yacoub, Berber village 20 k m north west of Fez at the last southern foothills of the Rif, in a setting of clay hills appearance Lunar is known in Morocco and beyond for centuries. His fame rests on therapeutic properties of its waters mainly due to their rich mineralization ,but also the mystical-religious component materialized by the Marabout Saint who gave his name to the village, and the tomb of Lalla Chaffia erected on a hill overlooking the site. The Romans who studied and exploited in the main area hotsprings they met, seem to have used the waters of MoulayYacoub. No construction, no Roman remains have been found at the site or in its immediate vicinity.
