Ebai Enow stanley best known by his artist name Stanley Enow is an African rapper, radio and TV presenter, professional voice actor, entertainer [1] and co-owner of the label Motherland Empire[2] He is a native of the southwest region of the country[3]. He released in 2013 the single “HEIN PERE” which brought a huge change in the Cameroonian local Hip-hop scene[4] and propelled him to the rank of the most famous hip-hop artist in the country[5]. Since then he makes headway, gathering top rankings throughout the continent. He is actually the first Cameroonian ever to be nominated at the MTV Africa Music Awards in June 2014[6].

Stanley was born a 8th of February of the second half of the eighteen’s in Bamenda[7]. He comes from a Bayangui family of eight children. He grew up in the Bafoussam town where he did his primary and his secondary school at Government bilingual high school. He left his hometown in 2007 for Douala the country’s economic capital where he graduated in business journalism at the town’s University.[8]

The “Bayangui boy” started with break-dancing in form one at Government bilingual High School, Bafoussam . A year afte, he penned his first rap lyrics with the help of Mc Nas Zao. Some months later, he did his first recording at studio Lestacom on a DMX instrumental. Two years later, he performed on a show dubbed ‘Groove’ presented by top animator, Serge Pouth who was newly assigned to CRTV Douala Fm. After his flow, Serge connected Stanley with one of the most famous hip hop host in Douala at the time Nabil4real who introduced him to an academic radio show. Impressed by his performance, the Deputy Station manager, Leonard Chatelin assigned him for a show ‘Cocktail Hit Parade’ on Saturday nights. 2 months after, he was substituted by new journalists from ESSTIC (information & communication school of the country). He was however solicited by several private radio stations where he worked as an animator and director.[9]. The boy also got spotted by Cameroon’s urban culture veteran Tony Nobody and then, quickly became the go-to media personality hosting the popular television music show “Mboa”[10].. Due to his comfort in stage he is frequently picked to host concert featuring international artists and even flirt with advertising world thru the Pan African telecommunication company MTN[11] While building a solid reputation in Hip hop milieu, Stanley Enow was perfecting his own songs and style. His goal: give a new idol, a new model, new dreams and more hope to his fellows but most of all offer something great to his country, to his continent. He shaped his own musical identity standing halfway between his native southwest heritage and global urban music trends. He raps mainly in “francanglais” (local slang blending French, English and words stemming from Cameroonians dialects). Actually the artist has released the title “Hein Pere” remixed month’s latter featuring the southafrican artist F.A.B.[12] and “tumbuboss” with a deluxe version released in April 2014[13]. Stanley Enow is actually recording his album “soldier like my papa”



“Hein Pere”: the great single[modifier | modifier le code]

He took a certain time of observation and preparation to release his first song “Hein Pere”[14] this coupled with his concept “On est high pere”. The song produced by Adamack got thousand of plays in soundcloud the month of its post. The Official video, directed by one of the most sought after director Shamack Allharamadji became the first most view Cameroonian video with about more a hundred thousand the month of its release [15]. The title was then ranked at the #1 on Reverbnation’s Cameroon[16] and Trace Africa top 10 songs [17] The phenomenon turning to viral the #HeinPere hashtag was used about fifty to a hundred times a day on twitter.At this wild pace, international music broadcasting channel trace TV aired the video, giving the success and African dimension. The single made the man entering in Cameroonian record’s story by being the first Hip Hop Cameroonian artist with such a huge success[18].
