FEICA, the Association of the European Adhesive & Sealant Industry is a multinational association representing the European Adhesive and Sealant Industry. With the support of its National Associations Members, Direct Company Members and Affiliate Company Members, FEICA coordinates, represents and advocates the common interests of the sector throughout Europe. In this regard FEICA aims at establishing a constructive dialogue with legislators in order to act as a reliable partner to resolve issues affecting the European Adhesive and Sealant Industry.

History[modifier | modifier le code]

In the late 1950s the first meetings of European producers of vegetable adhesives from five countries took place. From then on meetings were held every two years, mostly in the Netherlands and France, until 1967 when, for the first time, European producers of chemical adhesives were also invited to participate. In 1968 the first liaison office in Düsseldorf was established. In 1972 FEICA (Fédération Européenne des Industries de Colles et Adhésifs) was formally founded at the first General Assembly in Rome. Mr. Wilfried de Kesel, Fédération des Industries Chimiques de Belgique, was elected as first president of the new Association of the European Adhesive and Sealants Industry. The German adhesives association in Düsseldorf provided the secretariat. Since its inception, FEICA has continued to grow and expand its areas of interest. Although for many years a federation of national adhesive and sealants associations, in 2007 FEICA expanded the membership structure to include direct company members and associate company members. Today membership stands at 13 national associations, 17 direct company members and 4 associated company member. This represents more than 430 companies from across Europe*. FEICA looks after the industry’s interests across all market sectors and has established good working relationships with the national and regional associations around the world. In January 2007 the FEICA secretariat and office was relocated to the premises of the European Chemical Council (CEFIC) in Brussels. This has enabled FEICA to become more closely involved with the European Commission and other EU institutions and to build relationships with the chemical producer and other chemical user associations and advance the interests of the Adhesive and Sealant Industry.
