Kamil (born 19 March, 1946) is an Iranian architect, interior designer and artist living and working in Monaco.

1. Biography[modifier | modifier le code]

Kamil was born in Teheran in 1946 where he grew up and attended the Faculty of Architecture at the Madresei Alie Sakteman School of Architecture. After specialising in Interior Design he moved to Paris where he continued his studies at the Ecole des Beaux Art. From 1974 until 1976 Kamil was active as an architect in his home country where he accomplished several projects while working for an Architecture Studio in Teheran. In 1977 he moved to the French Riviera where he launched his business in Cannes, Rue des Serbes. In 1984 the company was transferred to Monaco where a contemporary art gallery came to implement the Interior Design studio.

2.1 Architecture and Interior Design[modifier | modifier le code]

As a young architect Kamil worked for an Architecture and Decoration Studio in Teheran. From 1974 until 1976 he followed a number of projects including the Locomotive and Les Chablis Restaurants, the boutique Delicate and the jewellery shops Mehdizadeh in both Teheran and Geneva.

In 1977 he moved to the French Riviera where he launched his first private business with his sister Caroline. In rue des Serbes, Kamil installed an architecture studio and a showroom where both art works and furniture pieces were proposed to a variegated audience. In Boulevard Alexandre III Kamil opened a store dedicated to the valorisation of Persian rugs and antiques. In 1984 Kamil Interior Decoration was definitively transferred to Monaco.

2.2 Contemporary Art[modifier | modifier le code]

In 1984 Kamil opened an art gallery in Monaco while from 1996 until the year 2000 a second branch of his activity was launched in Aspen, Colorado.

The gallery participates in several art fairs among which “Fira de Arte de Barcelona” and “Art Jonction” in Nice where Kamil was awarded the first prize of the Toison d’Or for the best gallery. Kamil also publishes his artists’ works through monographs such as the dedicated to André Verdet, Sabala, F.M.G. and Mattia Moreni and numerous art essays such as Bijoux d’Artiste and Le Jus d’Art.

In the 1990s Kamil founded the "Club des Artistes"[1], a three-storey space dedicated to music, interior design and art. He was also the creator and giver of the "World Music Award” Trophy which allowed him to receive in his club the biggest names in music of that period such as Stevie Wonder and Ringo Starr[2].

Kamil was one of the first supporters of La Nouvelle Ecole de Nice in 1998.

Kamil was nominated honorary member of “Le Comité National Monegasque de l’Association Internationale des Arts Plastiques” under the patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco.
