IGLUNA is a platform dedicated to university students in order to develop, showcase and collaborate on innovative space technologies. IGLUNA is part of the ESA_Lab@ initiative of the European Space Agency with the goal to connect universities, industries and research across Europe.[1] IGLUNA is coordinated by Space Innovation (old Swiss Space Center).[2]

Each IGLUNA edition lasts for one academic year on the topic of space exploration and how to sustain life in an extreme environment.[3]

The first edition was initiated in 2018-2019 as a demonstrator project of the ESA_Lab@ initiative. On 4 October 2019, ESA Director General Jan Wörner and Volker Gass, Head of the Swiss Space Center, signed a Memorandum of Collaboration establishing the IGLUNA platform as an ESA_Lab@CH.[4]

IGLUNA 2018-2019[modifier | modifier le code]

The first IGLUNA edition gathered 20 student teams from 9 countries[5]. It was concluded in June 2019 with a demonstration inside the Matterhorn Glacier Palace at 3800m together with an exhibition downtown in Zermatt, Switzerland.[6]
