Le statut du Tibet de Chine dans l'histoire est une étude historique du statut juridique du Tibet chinois réalisée par les historiens chinois Wang Jiawei et Nyima Gyaincain et considérée comme présentant la position officielle de la République populaire de Chine sur le sujet. Publié d'abord en chinois[1] et en tibétain en 1995[2], l'ouvrage a connu ensuite une édition en anglais en 1997[3]. Il a été traduit et publié en 2001 en français[4] puis en 2003 en allemand[5], en espagnol[6] et en russe[7].
Présentation
Publié tout d'abord en chinois et en tibétain par la maison d'édition China Intercontinental Press à Pékin, l'ouvrage présente la position officielle de la République populaire de Chine sur le statut juridique du Tibet[8] et critique les interprétations et conclusions livrées par le conseiller juridique du 14e dalaï-lama, Michael van Walt van Praag, en 1987[9]. En outre, il remet en question l'analyse de certains événements historiques importants livrée par l'homme politique et historien tibétain W. D. Shakabpa[10],[11].
Co-auteurs
Les auteurs, Wang Jiawei (王家伟) et Nyima Gyaincain (tibétain : ཉི་མ་རྒྱལ་མཚན་, Wylie : nyi ma rgyal mtshan ou, translittération chinoise, Nima Jianzan ou Nimajianzan (chinois simplifié : 尼玛坚赞 ; pinyin : ), sont des historiens chinois[12].
Prix
Le livre a été largement diffusé en Chine, où il a reçu le prix « Livre d'excellence » en 1996[13].
Accueil critique
Pour John Powers, certaines déclarations de l'ouvrage rappellent les écrits des auteurs chinois qui semblent s'être fixé pour but de persuader les lecteurs occidentaux que les revendications tibétaines d'indépendance sont sans fondement et qu'un examen impartial des « faits historiques » révèlera que le Tibet fait partie intégrante de la Chine depuis des temps immémoriaux[14].
