Yellowman ou King Yellowman (Winston Foster, né à Negril en Jamaïque en 1959), est un Deejay jamaïcain de reggae.

Biographie

Yellowman tient son pseudonyme du fait qu'il est albinos, ce qui est mal vu en Jamaïque. Étant orphelin, son apprentissage musical se fait à l'Alpha Boys School. Célèbre dès le début des années 1980 avec l'émergence du style dancehall (période rub-a-dub), il devient le n° 1 à Kingston de 1982 à 1985 environ. Il marquera le pas à l'arrivée du son numérique au milieu de la décennie.

Il a souvent collaboré avec DJ Fathead.

Son style

Yellowman un des plus grands de la scène reggae des années 80, peut-être un des meilleurs dj de sa génération. Yellowman est un incontournable de la scène dj rub a dub jamaicaine, avec des titres comme Mr Chin ou encore le fameux Zungguzungguguzungguzeng...
