Les Melanobatrachinae forment une sous-famille regroupant plusieurs genres d'amphibiens qui se rencontrent en Amérique du Nord et du Sud, dans l'archipel indo-australien et dans l'est de l'Asie.
Elle a été créée en 1858 par Albert Charles Lewis Günther, herpétologiste et ichtyologiste britannique d'origine allemande.
