Ahmed Cevdet Paşa est un intellectuel ottoman né le et mort le [1]. Il a particulièrement contribué aux réformes de la période Tanzimat dans l'Empire ottoman. Il est à la tête de la commission de rédaction du Medjellé[2], le « code civil ottoman ».
En plus du turc, Ahmed Cevdet Pasha parlait arabe, perse, français et bulgare. Il écrit de nombreux textes en histoire, droit, grammaire, linguistique, logique et astronomie.
