Rhea is a canadian R&B singer, born on June 24 1984 in Guyana.
She recently became the new member of the worldwide known hip hop band N.E.R.D created by Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo and Shay Haley. Rhea is now the fourth member of N.E.R.D and the very first female to join the band.
Biography
Rhea was born in Guyana, where she lived with her parents and two brothers, but her family decided to relocate to Toronto, Canada in search of a more fulfilling life. Rhea then decided to move from Canada to the US in order to focus on her muscial career. She attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Music Degree. Rhea has many musical influences such as jazz, hip-hop, dancehall but also classical music as she started by singing opera.
Musical career
For her debut album, Rhea was signed to the label Next Selection and her first single was "Get Me Home". She is now working with N.E.R.D on a new album project which should be called "Instant Gratification". Rhea auditioned for N.E.R.D via Skype, and the band was really impressed by her rendition of the gospel classic "His Eye Is On The Sparrow". In august 2009, the members of N.E.R.D brought her on stage as they were performing at Lovebox in London. On an interview she made for the radio station Kube 93, Rhea said she will bring a new energy to the band, mentioning a "female flavour". Confirming Rhea as N.E.R.D's new member, Pharrell Williams declared to MTV news : "Musically, we're just somewhere else."
