In 2014-2015 Maria Mazo is performing in Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Israel, Japan, China and Australia. She is also present in the social networks with a Facebook page that has thousands of fans from around the globe, and a Youtube channel that has received over 200.000 views.

Career

Although dominating a broad repertoire ranging from Bach to nowadays, Maria Mazo is since young age fascinated by Beethoven's music. It has been precisely her interpretations of some of these masterpieces what first definitely established Maria Mazo in the international concert scene. Her deep connection to this music led her first to win the Beethoven Piano Competition in Mannheim, Germany, in 2004. One year later she revolutionized the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and made herself a reputation with a highly acclaimed performance of Beethoven´s Hammerklavier-Sonata. It was there that she was also selected as one of the main characters for the documentary In the Heart of Music, directed by Andy Sommer. In this film the pianist of the legendary Beaux Arts Trio and jury member Menahem Pressler praised Maria Mazo's performance of said sonata, emphasizing his admiration “for someone that young being capable of playing Beethoven on such a high level, that we have not heard from anyone”. The circle came to a close with her winning the First Prize at the Beethoven Competition in Vienna which is one of the oldest, most traditional and prestigious music competitions in the world and allows exclusively the performance of Beethoven's works. This definitely establishes Maria as one of the greatest ambassadors of the music of the universal genius.

Awards

Maria Mazo, already an award winner at the Van Cliburn (USA), Honens (Canada) and Busoni (Italy) International Piano Competitions, is the Winner of the 2013 International Beethoven Piano Competition Vienna (playing with the Camerata Salzburg conducted by Louis Langrée). She also recently achieved great praise of audience and critics at the 2014 Arthur Rubinstein Piano Master Competition in Tel-Aviv where she was awarded the Audience Prize after performing with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Asher Fisch. — Le message qui précède, non signé, a été déposé par Raph35200 (discuter), le 19 août 2017 à 20:05 (CEST)[répondre]

Jovvanni-Rey De Pedro Pianist[modifier le code]

Filipino-American pianist Jovanni-Rey Verceles de Pedro has developed an international reputation as a soloist, collaborator, pedagogue, speaker, entrepreneur, and philanthropist

Education

Jovanni’s academic research and pedagogical interests have led to presentations for the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and its state and local affiliates, the College Music Society (CMS), and the European Piano Teachers Association/World Piano Teachers Association in Serbia. He has also been featured as a keynote speaker and recitalist for the Australasian Piano Pedagogy Conference, and the Music Teachers Association of Queensland’s Alan Lane Memorial Workshops in Australia. Developing pianists and teachers who are intelligent, creative, disciplined, reflective, and communicative define Jovanni’s mission as a pedagogue. In addition to helping students reach their full potential as sensitive musicians, he is passionate about the growth of professional skills - whether giving them the experience of putting together a CD, revising cover letters, or developing presentation and research skills. In 2012, he received national recognition for spearheading the formation of the Piano Pedagogy Symposium, a conference by college students for college students. This MTNA event has since brought together hundreds of young music professionals to share creative ideas, network, and develop skills as scholars, presenters, thinkers, performers, entrepreneurs, and teachers. Jovanni is also a founding member of the Young Professionals Track at the MTNA National Conference, and currently serves as the advisor for the University of Idaho’s MTNA Collegiate Chapter.

Whether it be collaborating with engineers to perform at a University of Idaho football game on a spinning piano with the Vandal Marching Band, or teaming up with Millsaps College’s award-winning community service program to bring piano lessons to adults from impoverished areas of Jackson, Jovanni can be continuously seen seeking ways to reach a wider audience, further music and music education, and give back to the community. Over the years, he has helped raise more than $100,000 for dozens of civic and religious organizations such as the Alay Sa Kabataan (Gift of the Children) Foundation in the Philippines, the Filipino Catholic Chaplaincy of Vienna, Grace House Mississippi, and the Austrian-American Council West. A California native and alumni of the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA), Jovanni holds a Diplom (with auszeichnung) from the Vienna Conservatory’s Konzertfach Abteilung in Austria where his studies were supported by the ASCAP/Leiber & Stoller Foundations. He received a Master of Music degree in Performance Studies from Trinity College of Music in London, and earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Pedagogy and Performance from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!). After teaching appointments at Millsaps College in Mississippi and the Levine School of Music in Washington D.C., Jovanni was named Assistant Professor of Piano and Piano Pedagogy, and Co-Director of the preparatory music program at the University of Idaho's Lionel Hampton School of Music in 2014.

Now a mentor to his own students, “Dr. J” is grateful for his teachers and people who have positively impacted his life - namely his parents (his dad was his first piano teacher), Gloria Ho-Sims, Vilma Posadas, Robert Ward, Gerhard Geretschläger, Aries Caces, Yonty Solomon, Mikhail Kazakevich, Deniz Arman Gelenbe, Louis Nagel, and John Ellis.

Career

Coming from a family of musicians whose musical heritage dates back more than a century, Jovanni has appeared to public acclaim in recital and academic venues on five continents  including London’s St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York, the Eroica-Saal in Vienna, and the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance. His broad musical interests range from the Viennese Classics and German Romantics, to the music of Latin America, and the jazz-inspired works of Friedrich Gulda. An enthusiastic advocate for contemporary music, he has commissioned or premiered 16 new works since 2013. His artistic endeavors have been further supported by grants which have led to tours of Australia and Argentina, and a tour of Ireland performing Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time with his trio, TaRvangIO.

Awards

Additionally, Jovanni has received numerous prizes in competitions in the United States, Canada, Spain, England, Austria, and Greece, including the Isabelle Bond Gold Medal for Performance Excellence, first place at the Pacific International Competition, and second place at the Ibiza International Competition. — Le message qui précède, non signé, a été déposé par Raph35200 (discuter), le 19 août 2017 à 20:59 (CEST)[répondre]

Maria Callas Grand prix[modifier le code]

The International Maria Callas Grand Prix

Since their establishment, international music competitions worldwide aim at discovering new talents as well as introducing them to the public. Despite the efforts of the organizers all these years, however, experience has shown that the acquisition of a first prize in an international competition does not, by any means, guarantee the beginning of a successful career or its further development. From the very beginning, the Maria Callas Grand Prix in opera and piano traced this issue on the fact that discovering a talent is one thing; awarding a musician, ready to successfully meet the high standards of an international career, is quite another. Consequently, the criteria and requirements between these two differ accordingly. As a result, a dynamic personality, communication skills, stage presence, an extended repertoire, as well as the ability to decisively cope with the various stage difficulties are qualities that lead to a successful career. With a view to introducing outstanding young artists to the public, as well as expanding the scope of a perhaps already existing career, Athenaeum expects from the participants the execution of a highly demanding program. The Maria Callas Grand Prix has been established to award those gifted artists, and this would be the fullfilment of what Athenaeum quests for.
