PC-50x Family[modifier le code]

This console is a "first generation console", it belongs to the "PC-50x Family" of consoles. For information look at [1] or [2]

Arosio Stefano : en:PC-50x Family doesn't include any reference about SD-070's generation, neither the other link. Maybe you have more convincing argument ? SammyDay (discuter) 29 août 2019 à 11:21 (CEST)[répondre]
1) In en:PC-50x Family this console is present in "Consoles list" as "SD 070 couleur". 2) here the details about the sd 070 consoles: all use the PC-50x cartridges. 3) in [3], the console is present in the cartrige list ("The Systems") as "SD-070 - Hanimex - France" 4) In pong story" site, the console is listed as a PC-50x cartridge system
Looking at the listed sites, you can see that also Hanimex TVG 070C is a PC-50x first-generation console

Arosio Stefano :
1) not relevant - Wikipedia en is not more reliable than here
2, 3 and 4) none of these sources say "it's a first generation console". SammyDay (discuter) 29 août 2019 à 12:58 (CEST)[répondre]
Good: now we agree that "SD 070 couleur" and "TVG 070C" are both PC-50x consoles.
So your question is: "PC-50x" are first generation consoles? PC-50x consoles don't contain a CPU (like all 2nd gen. consoles); all the logic is placed in the cartridges. If you look at cartridges, you can see for example here that are all AY-3-8xxx chips. For example the PC-501 Supersportic cartridge contains an AY-3-8610 chip and this is surely a first generation console chip, used for example in the Coleco Telstar Galaxy (AY-3-8600 variant), in Magnavox Odyssey 4000 (AY-3-8600 variant) and many other first generation consoles.
The ultra-rare PC-508 cartridge seems to be the ubiquitous AY-3-8500 chip, base of hundred of first generation consoles[4]
The PC-503 chip contains the AY-3-8710, that is the chip of Coleco Telstar Combat!
All the PC-50x chips are documented in GI chip book.
So, by placing a first-generation chip in a cartridge, it doesn't turn the console into a second-generation console.

My question is "Hanimex SD-070 is first generation console?". SammyDay (discuter) 29 août 2019 à 14:48 (CEST)[répondre]
A) PC-50x consoles are first generation consoles (they don't have a central CPU but use AY-3-8600, AY-3-8500,... 1° gen.console chips in the cartridges). B) Hanimex SD-070 (and Hanimex TVG 070C) belongs to the PC-50x family, so C) Hanimex SD-070 is a first generation console. --Arosio Stefano (discuter) 29 août 2019 à 14:58 (CEST)[répondre]
Still looking for sources... SammyDay (discuter) 29 août 2019 à 16:43 (CEST)[répondre]
A)+B)=C) and I already give you more than one source for fact A) and fact B).
Example sources for A): here and here you can see that the PC-50x cartridges contain AY-3-8xxx chip: AY-3-8610, AY-3-8500 etc..., used in hundred of first generation consoles as you can see in the list present here (http://www.pong-story.com is a site specialized on first generation pong consoles). another source
Example sources for B): pong story" where you can read that the "SD-070 couleur" console is a PC-50x cartridge system. another source--Arosio Stefano (discuter) 29 août 2019 à 17:37 (CEST)[répondre]
I don't see in any links the expression "first generation". Except for retroconsoles.fandom, which is also a wiki. So... still looking. You better try to find some sources which defines what is a "first generation console". SammyDay (discuter) 29 août 2019 à 18:22 (CEST)[répondre]
APF TV Fun, Coleco Telstar are first generation pong consoles (read the articles in the same fr wiki) and are based on the AY-3-8500 chip (is written in the same articles in the fr wiki). PC-508 cartridge use an AY-3-8500 chip [5].
Coleco Telstar article say that it's a first generation console. And the pong console "Coleco Telstar Galaxy" use an AY-3-8600[6], the same of PC-501 Surpersportif cartridge[7]
P.S.:Where are the sources that show that the console belongs to 2° generation? Never ever read it anywhere. Even in an unreliable wiki..... --Arosio Stefano (discuter) 29 août 2019 à 19:15 (CEST)[répondre]
In Consoles de jeux vidéo de deuxième génération you can read that a 2°gen.console have a central CPU in the console and a game is a program placed in a ROM cartrige. A PC-50x console is a dumb shell without a central CPU[8] and all and only logic is placed in a dedicated AY-3-8xxx chip in the cartridge[9]. So it's not a 2°gen console, don't follow the relative definition. --Arosio Stefano (discuter) 29 août 2019 à 23:43 (CEST)[répondre]
I agree the sources about the 2nd generation are not here. But that's not a good reason to change the text and say "it's a first generation console". We have to write reliable informations to replace the unreliable. We can't ? So we can't change the text.
There's no source in Consoles de jeux vidéo de deuxième génération, or in en:Second generation of video game consoles, to define what is a first or a second generation. We only have some unreliable text. This is not available in Wikipedia, anywhere. Is there only console's generation, or is it absolutely fake ?
