Les Polypteridae sont une famille d'actinoptérygiens (poissons à nageoires rayonnées), la seule actuelle de l'ordre des Polypteriformes.
Ce groupe contient des poissons pulmonés (pourvus de poumons)[1]. On les trouve exclusivement en Afrique.
