Fords were restyled for 1959, a long and low appearance with dual hooded headlights. All models were now on the 118in wheelbase. The base Custom was dropped and later in the year, the Galaxie was added as the top model. The Custom 300 and Fairlane were available in 2 and 4 door Sedan. The upmarket Fairlane 500 and new Galaxie; post cars were the 4 door Town Sedan and the 2 door Club Sedan, the 4 door Town Victoria and 2 door Club Victoria were pillarless. When the Galaxie was introduced, the Sunliner and Skyliner Convertibles, (the Skyliner with retractable hardtop) moved across from the Fairlane 500 range. Galaxie styling varied from the Fairlane 500 with the addition of a Ford Tbird-style C pillar. 1959 Galaxie models carried both Fairlane 500 and Galaxie badging. Wagons were the 2 door Ranch Sedan, 4 door Country Sedan and 4 door Country Squire (wood panelling) Also based on the Ranch wagon, the Ranchero Pickup. From 1959-61, the Ranch Wagon, Custom 300 Sedan and Fairlane 500 Sedan were also assembled in Australia powered by the 332 cu in V8. For 1960, sticking with the 59 shape, they got the grille and trim from the 1959 Canadian Meteor.
