"At last, the religious ceremony for Indian soldiers of World War I was held on August 30, 2015, at the Neuve-Chapelle Memorial in Richebourg, France."
"The Shanti (Peace) prayer served as a symbol of unity and peace among different religious communities who gathered to pay their respects to the soldiers who died serving World War I and were forgotten for over 100 years. The prayer carried a message of peace and harmony, reminding those present of the importance of coming together, despite their differences, in the face of loss and tragedy.
A memorial stone was inaugurated to commemorate the sacrifices of 74,000 brave Indian soldiers and to bring awareness to the world about the religious ceremonies that were held.
It was a one-man effort, led by Ramesh Chander Vohra, the President of the Interfaith Shaheedi Commemoration (IFSC) Association. Instead of spending his retirement passively, he used his savings and pension funds to establish the organization and make this tribute to the Indian soldiers of World War I a reality."
