English: In 1883 a Russian merchant N.A.Bugrov offered to the authorities to build up for the mendicants a building in front of the Krestovozdvizhensky monastery. The project was developed by the architect N.A.Fredlikh.
Русский: В 1883 году купец Н.А. Бугров предложил властям выстроить для нищенствующих вдов особый дом напротив Крестовоздвижнеческого монастыря. Его проект разработал архитектор Н.А. Фредлих. 30 октября 1887 года братья Блиновы и Н.А.Бугров передали городу 3-этажное каменное здание Вдовьего дома с 165 квартирами. 160 вдов с детьми здесь пользовались бесплатными квартирами, получали бесплатное медицинское обслуживание. Нижегородский Вдовий дом получил всероссийскую известность как самый гуманный приют, как реальная забота о материнстве и детстве. А император Александр III утвердил название приюта: «Нижегородский городской общественный имени Блиновых и Бугрова Вдовий дом».
