English: Coat of arms of Kholmogorsky District. [Translated by Google] The coat of arms reflects the rich history and cultural traditions of the Kholmogory land. The boat as a sea and river vessel indicates that the village of Kholmogory, located on the banks of the Northern Dvina, became the first Russian international seaport. The boat resembles the outlines of a cradle - an allegory of the Kholmogory land, which became the cradle of many famous people: the great scientist M.V. Lomonosov, poet N. Rubtsov, writer N. Zhernakov, and others. The quadrant in the coat of arms of the Kholmogory municipal district, borrowed from the historical coat of arms of the county town of Kholmogory, emphasizes the unity of the territory. Ornamental decoration of the waves symbolizes the Kholmogory art crafts, one of which - bone carving - is the hallmark of the area.

Ладья как морское и речное судно указывает на то, что расположенное на берегу Северной Двины село Холмогоры стало первым русским международным морским портом.
