The Puget Sound Navigation Company had the steel-construction POTLATCH built by the Seattle Construction & Drydock Co. (the former Moran Bros. Company) in 1912 as part of its wooden fleet replacement program. The POTLATCH replaced the old stern-wheeler STATE OF WASHINGTON on the Hood Canal Route. It registered 575 tons with dimensions of 150x26.8x16.8, with a 600 horsepower triple-expansion steam engine. In 1917 the Hood Canal route was discontinued, and the POTLATCH was used by PSN as a spare boat but saw little use. She was scrapped in Seattle in 1937. (Source: Newell, Gordon, ed. "The H.W.
