om Ufteris Ed. of Juflieus Gen. Plant, clalied from the naturalcharacters, under the title of Nelumbiums. This plant may be kept in the green-houfe, or hot-houfe,in a large tub filled witli water and a fmall portion of mud at the bottom. It propagates by theroot, and the flowers, which are extremely fragrant, are produced in Auguft, in which month, thisyear, our drawing was made, from a large plant in the Hibbertian collection ; but, from an omiflionin the figure, we were obliged to finifli the plate from a plant, in the collection of J. Vere, Efq. Ken-fington Gore, ftill in flower, the beginning of October. The leaves of this fpecies are moft beautifullyfcolloped, and near a foot in diameter; but the indentitions are fcarecly to be perceived in the younger;one of which, as we could not introduce the larger, is (hewn on the plate of the natural fize. It is a native of the Cape of Good Hope, and was introduced to the Royal Gardens, Kew, by Mr.F. Maifon, about the year 1/92. i / Ci/Ck /
