"Devil Dogs of the Air Greet Star of "The Little Colonel": Captain Hayne Boyden, of the U.S. Marine Corps, pays a visit to little Shirley Temple on location while the five year old star is engaged in making of the new picture, "The Little Colonel," in which she stars with Lionel Barrymore. Captain Boyden is shown holding hands with the tiny star, who is seated on the horse of her screen-play grandfather. With Captain Boyden is Lieut. Zeke Bailey. The two came to Santa Monica to fly back to Quantico, Virginia, a new amphibian plane just made by the Douglas plant. The two officers were eager to meet Shirley and fortunately found that Sidney Blackmer, a cousin of Boyden's was playing in the new picture with Shirley. Capt. Boyden, who is also a cousin of the famous hero of the Merrimac, Richmond Peasson Hobson, was in the air and headed for Virginia base half an hour after this photograph was made. Before leaving, he and Lieut. Bailey circled in the air the location where the child actress was working under the direction of David Butler."
