English: The 4th century Armenian monastery of Saint Karapet, one of the holiest Armenian shrines which was established by Saint Gregory the Illuminator and housed the relics of Saint John the Baptist. After the 1915 Armenian Genocide, it was blow up and completely destroyed by the Turkish army on orders of the government of Turkey |
