English: View of Cuba taken during ISS Expedition 6. North coast, around 330 km east of Habana.
Caibarién and the bay of Buena Vista, with the 48 km roadway across the bay that links Caibarién to cayo Las Brujas (with Caibarién airport), cayo Ensenachos and cayo Santa María (Villa Clara Province). Left of the picture: the long and rather straight-lined island is cayo Fragoso (not seen, further west: cayo Marcos and cayos Pajonal). Going east (right), are : cayo del Medio de Marco, cayo Conuco, cayo La Potala, cayo Francés, cayo Las Brujas (with its airport), cayo Ensenachos, cayo Santa Maria. Near the coast, right (east) side of the roadway: cayo La Aguada, Cayo Lucas, cayo Salinas with cayo Los Cayuelos on its south side, cayo Guainarao (and some smaller ones), all at the west end of Caguanes National Park in Yaguajay (Sancti Spíritus Province). All these islands and islets are part of the large Sabana-Camagüey Archipelago (but not the Jardines del Rey, which starts further east). See openstreet map. |
