English: The "walking iris" (Neomarica sp.) is so named because of the way it propagates itself. A new plantlet is formed at the tip of the stalk and the weight of the new plantlet bends it to the ground where it takes root. The bending of the stalk to the ground mimics "walking", and a small plant easily spreads outwards if given the opportunity.
