| Description |
English: Cornish hedge at the rear of Porth Sawsen beach The Cornish hedge is found throughout the county as a field boundary and consists of stones built up in an earth fill, grading from very large stones at the base to smaller ones at the top, as seen here. This hedge is quite new and they frequently become totally overgrown with vegetation so that the stonework is not visible. The skill of hedge-building still flourishes, mainly thanks to the National Trust, as in this instance, and the County Council, which builds hedges alongside new roads. |
