Alfred Saker was the British missionary who first established the settlement in 1858 which is considered the founding of the town of Victoria. The town was renamed Limbe in 1982. The Cameroon Bible Society still distributes the Duala language Bible which Alfred Saker translated in the late 1800s.
The inscription on the monument reads: "Alfred Saker, Missionary to Africa, Who landed, founded and named the Township Victoria.
This tablet is erected in memory of his devoted work to mark the Centenary of Victoria, 1858-1958" and is located in the state of Cameroon, Africa.
