Biographie[modifier | modifier le code]

A Parisian long relocated in London, Jerry Bouthier is a ‘fingers in many pies’ dj/producer/sound-designer, strikingly passionate about music in its many forms and applications. His ties with Kitsuné, Vivienne Westwood, the infamous BoomBox/Ponystep nights as well as his JBAG productions/remixes and A&R duties at Continental records have made his name a regular fixture in the worlds of music and fashion. Always morphing, blending multitude variations of house, disco, indie-dance and revamped nuggets into one energetic yet seamless, inspiring mix that never fails to rock the party, the enthusiastic dj is generous and reliable when it comes to delivering an unforgettable time on the dancefloor or through his individual mixes and fashion shows’ soundtracks. It’s this broad knowledge and experience of what makes a party perk up and smile but also gets classy anddiscerning in the right places, which has enabled Jerry’s skills to spread and make him a favourite behind the decks.

Originally part of the pioneering Parisian house/balearic scene with late brother Tom – the pair deejayed in some of the UK’s biggest 90s clubs (Cream, Manumission, MoS, Gatecrasher, Miss Moneypennys…) and released singles on Ministry of Sound, Stress… – it is nonetheless on the back of his reinvention as electro dj and residence at London club extraordinaire BoomBox, that Jerry’s reputation rocketed globally. With its wild mix of DIY fashion, hedonist vigour and guest appearances from Kylie, Björk, Boy George, Justice, Gossip, Roisin Murphy and the whole London fashion scene (Gareth Pugh, Marios Schwab, Henry Holland, Agyness Deyn, Gilles Deacon, Princess Julia…) BoomBox and its party faithfuls lived a frenetic journey which ended in a bang as queues around the block became uncontrollable and diluted its original verve. Putting fun and dressing-up back on the dancefloor, the Sunday nighter turned into a brief legend, for a while the most talked about club in fashion circles the world over, offering an unforgettable taste of east London’s unique, creative spirit which inspired like-minded souls everywhere to start their own thing. Sharing a fondness for all things pop and electronic, Jerry naturally bonded with one of the best labels around, Kitsuné, the Franco-Japanese brand with the genius concept: music +clothes. Boss Gildas Loaec – once Daft Punk’s right-hand man – welcomed him in the family as dj ambassador and stalwart. Jerry’s long been crafting the Kitsuné MiniMixes, an essential creative part of online promotion, and has released five mixed cds to date on the Parisian imprint (‘BoomBox’, ‘Ponystep’, ‘Trip Mode’ and ‘Soleil’ 1 & 2). The French expat also selected and mixed ’100% Gomma’ for Munich’s respected Gomma imprint and has kicked off an exciting collaboration with Emerald & Doreen, another German label, forward-thinking with strong independent ethics. Jerry’s ‘Mystery Tour’ mix – Jerry’s personal faves so far in E&D’s catalogue – was released earlier this year, and ‘Voyage Sauvage’ – volume one of a regular mix series presenting the label’s latest tracks – is about to be released.

An imaginative and giftedsound-designer, another string to his bow, Jerry was music director at Vivienne Westwood for five years, producing the soundtracks of fifty shows for the punk legend’s various labels (Gold label, Red Label, Man, Anglomania). With over a decade’s experience, Jerry’s helped shape the music worlds of Matthew Williamson, Peter Jensen, Roksanda Ilincic, Songzio, Jonathan Saunders, Julian Macdonald, Osman, Kokon To Zai, Sibling and many others. He also puts together mixes and playlists for brands and hotels. In the studio, Jerry’s half of baleariscopop act JBAG with Andrea Gorgerino. The pair has remixed Two Door Cinema Club, Ladyhawke, Kylie, S-Express, Sparks… and released four singles among which tropical anthem ‘Mogadisco’ and ‘Through Blue’ featuring the lead singer of Kamp!, Poland’s best electronic export. Jerry’s also the A&R and driving force behind JBAG’s label Continental records (http://www.continentalrecords.co.uk, http://www.youtube.com/continentalrecs). With its global cast of rising talents (Reflex, Shindu, Bleu Toucan, Mannequine, Mjolnir, Boys Get Hurt…) and visiting pals (Adamski, RÜFÜS, Kamp!, Scarlet Fantastic, Romuald & Madji’k…) the colourful, pop-tinted imprint is building a body of releases where love for songs with character and dancefloor principles cohabit on dj-friendly EPs crafted by authentic artists.
