rogram that served to attract.The Public Relations session, for instance,brought out a number of speakers who dis-cussed this most important problem fromvarious angles, with the result that the ses-sion was of real value to the electrical in- dustry, particularly from the public utilitystandpoint. Another session of great valuewas the Public Service Conference, whichtook the place of the Western DevelopmentConference that was the leading feature oflast years convention and at which the sub-jects discussed ranged over the entire fieldof the public service in its personal andpolitical relations. Last, but not least, forthe first time in the history of the industrythe women guests of the convention weregiven a session all their own which provedquite a feature in itself and is due for regu-lar recognition from this time on as a partof the convention program. More than fiftywomen attended and displayed keen interestin the affairs of the association and in theelectrical industry as a whole.

Klauber, retiring president of the Pacific Coast Electrical Association, Pacific Service Magazine 11 President Klauber opened the business ofthe convention with an address in which heemphasized the great benefit to the industryas a whole from gatherings like the present,at which not only the men of the publicutilities but, also, their brethren engaged inother branches of the industry were givenan opportunity to meet and exchange ideas.He advised closer co-operation between thePacific Coast Electrical Association andsister organizations, such as the Northwest-ern Light and Power Association and thePacific Coast Gas Association. He sug-gested that representatives from each ofthese be present at the several conventions.This latter suggestion is along up-to-datelines and looks worthy of acceptance uponthe theory that in the public service there isa community of interest between the variousindustries engaged.
