Ce genre de phocidés comprend trois espèces :
Espèce répartie en 5 sous-espèces
- Pusa hispida botnica
- Pusa hispida hispida
- Pusa hispida ladogensis
- Pusa hispida ochotensis
- Pusa hispida saimensis
Dans certaines classifications ce genre est absent et ces trois espèces appartiennent alors au genre Phoca.
