Goo Goo Dolls est un groupe de rock américain formé en 1986 à Buffalo. Ils sont surtout connus pour leur chanson Iris, qui fut utilisée dans la musique du film La Cité des anges, de Brad Silberling.

Le trio Goo Goo Dolls enregistre tout d'abord un album sobrement nommé Goo Goo Dolls en 1987, suivi de Jed (1989) et de Hold me up (1990).
En 1993, le groupe touche un public plus large avec son album Superstar car wash et le single We are the normal, coécrit avec Paul Westerberg. Deux ans plus tard, il connaît un franc succès avec l'opus A boy named Goo et la ballade Name.
En 1998, le single Iris, extrait de la musique du film La Cité des anges remporte également tous les suffrages. Il précède la sortie de l'album Dizzy Up the Girl. Au printemps 2002, les Goo Goo Dolls sortent un album intitulé Gutterflower suivi en 2006 d'un opus intitulé Let Love In.
En 2007, ils participent à la BO du film Transformers avec le single Before It's Too Late.
En 2008, le groupe annonce un nouvel album, qui sortira finalement en 2010 sous le nom de Something for the Rest of us.

- After signing with Metal Blade Records in 1987, the band's self-titled debut album Goo Goo Dolls was re-released under the revised title of First Release by their new record label. The albums Goo Goo Dolls and First Release are both identical, except for different cover artwork.
