First of all I apologize for writing in English. Although I read French, I do not write French well enough to express myself accurately.

I knew the late Dr. Netting well. I worked at Carnegie Museum when he was the Director, and after his retirement I visited him at Powdermill Nature Reserve when he was living there. I knew him for at least 30 years. I still have a hand-written note of condolence which he sent to me when my mother died.

Dr. Netting seldom used his first name. For his scientific publications he used "M. Graham Netting". His friends and colleagues called him "Graham".

I once asked him directly what his first name was, or what the "M." stood for. He told me his first name was spelled "MAURICE", but pronounced like "Morris" instead of the usual French pronunciation.

I have twice tried to correct this error in this WP article, but have had my edits reverted both times. (The second time I wrote my short explanation, in the limited space allowed, in Italian because it is closer to French.) Would someone, who has the privilege to do so, please correct Dr. Netting's first name in this WP article, not only in the text, but also in the title. the problem is that there are no source proving what you say... all publications are with "Morris" and not "Maurice". For example this paper from the Carnegie Museum... If you have a source, OK ! Poleta33 (d) 23 février 2012 à 10:11 (CET)
