Charles Urban est un producteur, réalisateur, directeur de la photographie et monteur américain né le 14 avril 1867 à Cincinnati, Ohio (États-Unis), décédé le 29 août 1942 à Brighton (Royaume-Uni).

En 1906, George Albert Smith et Charles Urban créent en Angleterre un nouveau procédé, le Kinémacolor qui donnait l'impression de couleur au film. Il n'est cependant commercialisé qu'au début de l'an 1911.
A Paris, en 1913, Charles Urban fait construire le Théâtre Édouard VII qui est d'abord une salle de cinéma utilisant le Kinémacolor. Il revend sa salle à Alphonse Franck l'année suivante.
